Programme funders, partners and sponsors vary according to the programme, but in the case of the 2012 PG DIP programmes include include Western Cape Government (DEDT PGWC), the SETAs of the various host companies (including INSETA), the eSkills Institute of the Department of Communications, host companies, the Universities of Cape Town and the Western Cape (UCT and UWC), sponsors and other funders and SETAs not yet confirmed.what?
South Africa has a critical shortage of graduate-level IT skills. CapaCITi 1000 is a training, internship and intern support programme of the Cape IT Initiative (a non-profit organisation established in 1998). It was created to fast-track non-IT graduates into IT careers in critical short supply, as well as to address systemic challenges that restrict the supply of high quality, employable, "industry ready" Information Systems, Computer Science, Informatics and Software Engineering graduates.
who can apply?
Unemployed, motivated graduates from any degree background (but particularly Arts and Social Sciences), who averaged more than 60% for their degree who want to fast track themselves to an IT career in critical short supply, and who meet our programme applicant entrance criteria , can apply online here

who are the host companies?
Host companies vary according to the programme and must meet programme host company entrance criteria. (link to copy on Host Company Entrance Criteria listed below.) Expressions of interest for interns on the 2012 programmes have been received from companies such as Old Mutual, Sanlam, The Foschini Group (TFG), Pick 'n Pay, Shoprite, JD Group, PEP, Steinbuild, T-Systems, HCL Axon, OptiSolutions, Fundamo, DVT and City of Cape Town.
how?
Apply online before 31 January 2012. Your application will be vetted by the relevant university. If you qualify, you will be invited to pitch yourself to host companies at one of the fun CapaCITi 1000 speed-pitching events and your CV information will also be made available to host companies. Interviews are done by the host company and the final decision regarding who is selected is made by the host companies.

Internships start from January 2011 and run for between 9 to 12 months, depending on how quickly host companies select their interns. Training start dates are as follows:
